Below are the most abused prompt phrases in real estate — and the stronger, smarter alternatives that unlock cleaner, tighter, more intentional responses.

1. “Make this better.”

This guarantees a generic rewrite.

Say instead:

Rewrite this with a confident, empathetic tone. Keep it under 120 words and improve clarity while preserving the key ideas.

2. “Write a listing description.”

AI needs format, tone, purpose, and audience.

Say instead:

Write a 2-paragraph listing description that focuses on lifestyle. Use warm, story-driven language and highlight these features: [insert specifics]. Keep it under 160 words.

This is the difference between a listing that sounds like every other MLS description — and one that actually makes someone feel something.

3. “Sound professional.”

“Professional” is vague. AI will guess wrong.

Say instead:

Use a friendly, competent tone similar to a top-producing agent guiding a client through a big decision.

4. “Make it engaging.”

Engaging for whom? In what way?

Say instead:

Add a clear hook, emotional language, and momentum-building sentences that pull the reader forward.

5. “Explain this simply.”

This can still produce jargon if context is missing.

Say instead:

Explain this at a 6th-grade reading level using short, direct sentences and no industry jargon.

6. “Summarize this.”

A summary can be a sentence or a novella.

Say instead:

Summarize this in 3 bullet points that highlight only the key takeaways for a busy real estate agent.

7. “Be concise.”

Concise compared to what?

Say instead:

Reduce this by 40% while preserving meaning and removing all filler.

8. “Fix this email.”

Fix how? Fix what?

Say instead:

Rewrite this email to be clear, warm, and confident. Keep it under 90 words and ensure the call to action is unmistakable.

9. “Give me ideas.”

Ideas for who? For what purpose?

Say instead:

Give me 10 social post ideas that educate first-time buyers about the pre-approval process. Include short captions.

10. “Rewrite this.”

Rewrite where? Rewrite how?

Say instead:

Rewrite this in a crisp, conversational tone that avoids clichés and improves pacing.

11. “Help me with this.”

This tells AI almost nothing.

Say instead:

Act as a marketing strategist. Identify the weak points in this message and provide a stronger alternative with rationale.

12. “Optimize this.”

Optimize for what? Speed? Conversion? Clarity?

Say instead:

Optimize this for readability and persuasion. Use shorter sentences, tighter transitions, and a clear call to action.
